Three Easy and Healthy Habits to Add to your Morning Routine

You just pressed your snooze button for the third time, then slowly reach for your phone to check your notifications. Bleary eyed, you go down the social media rabbit hole and before you know it, you're running late. You don't have time to eat breakfast and dash out the door. Rush hour traffic is made even more stressful because now you're in a hurry and your stomach starts rumbling. You're not off to a great start, and it sets the tone for the rest of your day. Any of this sounding familiar? Feeling stuck and wondering how you can start your day off on the right foot? Luckily, a couple quick and easy habits can make a big difference.

Protein and Veggies with Breakfast. This will do wonders for your mood in the morning hours. Protein keeps your blood sugar low, helping you feel full and more satisfied, while veggies add essential nutrients and fiber. If you are someone who doesn't like to eat first thing in the morning, try packing a mid morning snack or getting up earlier to take a walk before breakfast.

Play music instead of scrolling your phone or watching the news. This can also help start your day off on the right foot. In the same way that watching the news before bed can get us wound up or anxious, it's not a good way to start your day, especially if you notice it puts you in a bad mood. Instead, put on some feel good tunes while you're making that veggie omelet ;)

Set your alarm 20 minutes earlier. If you find yourself rushing in the morning, just try setting your alarm earlier one day and see if you notice a difference. I know it sounds obvious, but I understand how hard it is to get moving some days. By giving yourself time to wake up gently, you can avoid a stressful morning. Use this time to have a quick dance party while you're getting ready, snuggle your cat in bed, or maybe try a new makeup look.

These are just some quick changes that you can add to your morning routine that can make a huge difference in how the rest of your day goes. What are some good habits that are working for you? What are some things you need help with? Let me know here. Remember, you have the power to decide how your day is going to go. Set yourself up for success!
